resources for the journey
The world is a complex place. Religious extremism, nationalism, war, and economic meltdown are just a few of the problems that cross-cultural workers regularly encounter. Volunteers today must be better prepared than ever.
Donors and supporting churches expect that cross-cultural workers will succeed and not only be able to “do ministry” but also effectively communicate with constituents; demonstrating a return on investment. This high bar of accountability requires that today’s cross-cultural worker acquire a multitude of personal and professional competencies before going to the mission field.
United World Mission has a training philosophy and solution to help cross-cultural workers succeed. In partnership with other leading mission agencies, UWM created The Center for Intercultural Training to train and equip cross-cultural workers for the rigors of serving in today’s complex world.
Pre-field training at CIT is rooted in community, where we believe that personal and spiritual development best occur. Whether you are single or married with five children, you will have the opportunity to train alongside others in your life stage. In this environment you will have the opportunity to process the complexities of your transition to cross-cultural work. Our staff educates the entire family, with a Third Culture Kid curriculum designed to prepare children for their role in your ministry.
The professional mission staff at CIT have been there and have done their homework to identify the challenges that you will face. They have also engineered a training program that will prepare you to maximize your God-given talents, maintain physical and emotional health, and serve for the long-haul.
